One2Call Ltd has been named a finalist in the South Yorkshire Apprenticeship Awards 2025, shortlisted in the highly competitive SME Employer of the Year category.
This recognition highlights One2Call’s ongoing investment in apprenticeships and its commitment to nurturing local talent. With nearly 25% of its 24-strong team currently in or having completed apprenticeships, the Sheffield-based IT and communications specialist has long made workforce development a central pillar of its business strategy.
“Apprenticeships have been fundamental to our success for nearly two decades,” said Nick Bass, Managing Director at One2Call. “They don’t just build skills – they build confidence, loyalty, and the kind of innovation that pushes a business forward. We’re incredibly proud of every apprentice who’s been part of our journey.”
A Tailored Approach to Talent Development
Since launching 18 years ago, One2Call has developed a bespoke apprenticeship program tailored to business needs across IT, HR, and operations. The company currently supports four apprentices, in partnership with leading training providers CMS, BPP, and QA, offering pathways such as Information Communications Technician, HR Support, and Operations Manager.
The program supports both school leavers and adult learners, fostering a diverse pipeline of talent. Young apprentices Harvey and Josh have already made significant strides in their technical roles, while Jack, currently completing his Operations Manager apprenticeship, is helping lead strategic business growth. Meanwhile, Niamh, One2Call’s HR apprentice, is overseeing the rollout of a new HR system designed to enhance future apprenticeship support.
Eyes on the Prize
The winners of the South Yorkshire Apprenticeship Awards will be announced at a black-tie ceremony on Thursday, May 8th, at Sheffield United Football Club. One2Call is one of only five businesses shortlisted in its category – an achievement the team says is already a major win.
“To be recognised alongside some of South Yorkshire’s most forward-thinking employers is a huge honour,” Bass added. “We’re proud of the work we’re doing, and grateful for the opportunity to shine a light on the value of apprenticeships in the tech and business sectors.”
